George Bush on Kanye West

3 Nov

It has come to this. Dubya is making the rounds in promotion of his new book, “The Decider.” After a president is finished his term of service, it has become customary for them to release a book looking back on their time as the Head of State. I suppose in this case, W. has a lot to answer for, and this is finally his chance to come clean and try to paint himself positively for the sake of future generations. For the record, I am certainly not a fan of George Bush nor his brand of politics. However, I find him very interesting and I’d like to hear more about what he has to say about various issues. You can’t forget that he is a politician at heart, taking his words with a grain of salt is recommended.

Before she discovered Pizza Hut

I didn’t vote. Suffice it to say, I didn’t have anything cool to post on Facebook to prove to everyone else how “aware” I am because I was exercising my civic duties. I didn’t vote because I’m an uninformed, lazy college kid, although in some respects I guess I am. I didn’t because I’m jaded (Really?).

Suicide Bombers To Go On Strike

24 Sep

My dad emailed me this:

Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so far failed to produce an agreement. The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut this February, from 72 to only 60. The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the afterlife.

Words Fail Me

20 Sep

In fashion news, Hilary Clinton’s new Fall look made its debut yesterday at the UN headquarters in New York. I won’t even bother coming up with any witty comments, the pictures speak for themselves.

I still can’t decide whether or not her look is an improvement over the “Patrick Ewing with a wig” thing our current First Lady is going for.

Oh no he didn't.....

Eric Holder=Disgrace

8 Jul

I have my misgivings about the current political administration. Two of my main issues are in regard to the appointment of Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder as the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Attorney General of the United States. I am going to save you one of my vitriolic rants, but suffice it to say, these people are radical leftists and are not qualified for the jobs which they have been given. Napolitano is infamous for her misguided assertion that the 9/11 terrorists entered the US from Canada. This bonehead then decided that it would be a good idea to strengthen the US-Canada border. The complete falsehood of this idea notwithstanding, this is the same woman who does NOTHING about our little border “situation” in the Southwest. In regard to the controversial legislation in Arizona, Holder and Napolitano are both harsh critics. Big surprise, they both admit to not reading the bill. Some other choice selections from these two knuckleheads are Napolitano’s Department of Homeland Security memo warning the public against “right-wing extremist” military veterans and Holder’s refusal to admit that “radical Islam” is a factor in terrorism. These aren’t private citizens making crackpot statements from their armchairs or professors indoctrinating university students, these are the people who are “supposed” to defend our country and protect our freedoms. This type of knee jerk pandering is the last thing that we need.

Dey Took Errr Jobs!!!!

29 Jun

This past weekend, I had quite an interesting conversation. I usually work from 8 PM to 2:30 AM every weekend at a bar downtown. My responsibilities include checking IDs, keeping the peace and scoping out hot babes. Typically I stay inside, but as the night drags on, I stand out front to people watch and get some air. During this period, a lot of weird shit happens. There are a lot of whackjobs in this city, and they always seem to come out when I’m at work. I have to deal with countless homeless people trying to come in and use the bathroom or get a drink with whatever money they have “acquired” throughout the day. Since I’m not supposed to profile, I try to come up with imaginative ways to deny them access.

Aside from dealing with the local “flavor”, I have a ton of amazing conversations outside late at night. You can meet people from all walks of life with all sorts of experiences. There are a lot of regulars who like to be acknowledged when they come in. One of these regulars, is a guy named “Carlos” (not his real name). Carlos is a short, 25-year-old with spiky hair. He works a couple blocks away as a cook at Chili’s and usually comes in alone after his shift to toss back a few. He speaks broken English, but I have been conversating with him on the regular.
